E-C Mix Records, started in the year
1997 as a mere record production team and then was officially registered
as a legal business establishment in 2003. Now E-C Mix Records
Production & Management®, a duly registered single-proprietor business
in a corporate business set-up located in Quezon City, Philippines, is a
digital media record productions services and sales company, specializing
in professional record production, audio-visual digital media and print
advertising services, interactive media production services, and computer/I.T.
parts, peripherals, and electronic gadgets dealership sales. SALES is centered for Computers/I.T. & Electronic Gadgets and is mainly focused on-line as an e-commerce business (internet/web-based selling) conquering the boundaries of the area-based retail store-front. In this venture, the company now carries the biggest brand names in computer technology such as Intel, AMD, Microsoft, IBM, Lenovo, HP, Apple Macintosh, Apple iPod, Acer, Asus, Sony, HandyCam, CyberShot, Samsung, Epson, Imation, Emtec, Astone, ASRock, Epox, Jetway, Geil, Kingston, Logitech, Labtec, Sparkle, HIS, K-World, Palit, GECube, Sapphire, Seagate, Western Digital, A-Data, Viewsonic, Mag, Edimax, E-Maxx, Lian-Li, Nemesis, Tyan, Promise Technology, GeneSys Rack, Ozaki, HEC, APC, and Trend Micro among others. E-C Mix Records is also engaged in digital multimedia audio-visual record production services serving to corporate and consumer level clientele with services ranging from simple disc media jobs to disc replication services to professional record production to visual designs and print advertising. The company also has a music publishing division, E-C Mix Records Music Publishing, registered and recognized by the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors, & Publishers (FILSCAP). The division’s primary objectives are to discover and develop new breed of songwriters/composers, and to aide them, both amateur and professionals, to have their materials marketed to the right channels. Our key role as a music publisher is to administer copyrights, to license songs, and to collect royalties, all for and on behalf of the songwriter. E-C Mix Records is owned and founded by Darrell James (a.k.a. James Darrell Laxamana), a Professional Record Producer and songwriter. He started a modest career in the entertainment industry in the early 90’s as a band singer, composer, and commercial model. In 1997, he was employed at OctoArts EMI Music Inc. (now EMI Philippines, Inc.) as an A&R for local repertoire. After 4 months he started producing albums, 3 years later was handling EMI’s international repertoire for strategic, marketing, and releases. He was partly responsible for the Philippine market success of international artists such as Blue, C21, Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Norah Jones, Coldplay, D'Sound, Gorillaz, Fra Lippo Lippi, Jump 5, Atomic Kitten, Baha Men, Michael Learns To Rock, Beverley Knight, The Vines, Matthew Jay, Too Phat, and David Usher just to name a few. To date, he has A&R-ed and produced over a dozen albums both for local repertoire and international special projects. He resigned in 2003 to concentrate for E-C Mix Records. His notable projects were Truefaith’s Platinum selling album "Memories Are Cheap", Melody’s "First Joy" album, H-Bom’s AWIT Awards Best Produced Rap Album Nominee "D' Real Side", and Renz Verano’s Gold record album "Basta’t Mahal Kita". All his local works has been nominated and won in the AWIT Awards, the most prestigious music awards giving body in the Philippines and is the equivalent of the Grammy in the USA. One of his biggest achievements was to be the product manager for Fra Lippo Lippi’s album "In A Brilliant White" which produced the hit "Later" and contains a duet recording with R&B Princess Kyla called "Wish We Were Two".
